David J. "Dave O" Oliveira

David J. Oliviera, “Dave O” (age 58) passed away unexpectedly at home on November 25, 2021. David is survived by his wife of 26 years, Betsi Sullivan Oliveira and his sons, Brady and Benjamin, as well as 6 brothers and sisters: Maggie, Michael, Jeannie, Stephen, John, and Laura. David is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Margaret Bopp, and James and Claire Sullivan who were also like parents to him.

David was a 1981 graduate of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School, where he excelled in culinary arts. David was also an outstanding football and baseball player, and was awarded the 1981 All Scholastic Team his senior year. David continued his talents by participating in Fall River mens softball league, where his team “Jimmy's Tires” won numerous championships. He created lifelong friends and priceless memories. A major milestone for David was in 2019, when he was inducted into the Fall River mens softball league hall of fame, for his exemplary athletic skills. David's biggest athletic accomplishment was being a hands-on assistant baseball coach at SBRHS, not only to his own sons but to many other young men that he impacted on and off the field.

David was charismatic and had a unique wit and had a knack for making someone laugh at the most unexpected time. He was known for his kindness and good nature, whether he was humming, whistling, or singing. David had a dedicated work ethic; he was most known for the pride he had regarding his family, job, and yard. At the time of his passing, David worked as a supervisor at Auclair's Market, Somerset, MA,  in the marinade production department. David continued his passion for the culinary arts by cooking for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Services for David will be on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 4PM-7PM at Hathaway Funeral Home (900 Buffington St. Somerset, MA). David's family invites anyone to share a special memory or story about David at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SBRHS James Sullivan athletic award fund, in care of the Oliveira family (proceeds are directed to the Somerset Baseball Team), 157 Luther Ave, Somerset, MA. All are welcome to attend a SBRHS Varsity Baseball game to support the team in memory of Dave O.
