Obituary

CUMBERLAND, RI-David W. Balfour, Sr., 84, a resident of Cumberland, RI since 1968, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 in the Providence VA Hospital. He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. (Macomber) Balfour.

Born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Walter Balfour and the late Evelyn (Wilson) Balfour, David attended URI and then entered the United States Army in 1958. He went on to become a become an advertising and marketing executive, eventually owning his own firm, D.W. Balfour Associates. More recently he had served as chairman of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council. He was the Town Historian of Cumberland and he has been a longtime radio personality on WOON in Woonsocket, RI with his daily call-in show "Do You Remember?"

He is survived by a son, David W. Balfour, Jr. and his wife Maria of Somerset; a daughter, Deborah Lee and her husband Tom of Southbury, CT; and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda, and Laura Lee.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at noon in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Family will receive visitors from 10 to 12 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milk Fund, care of WOON Radio, 985 Park Avenue, Woonsocket, RI 02895

There will a gathering for family and friends after the burial. Details will be announced at the service.
