Charles Wolf “Charlie” Stampler, age 107, of Fall River, MA, passed away peacefully on July 17. Born in Lynn, MA, the son of Samuel and Katie (Schwartz) Stampler, he attended the University of Alabama on an athletic scholarship and was graduated from Boston University with graduate school courses at Wentworth Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design. Charlie was married to the late Shirley (Woloshen) Stampler for 63 years. Together they enjoyed classical music and service to their community. Charlie had a long and successful career as a mill owner and founder and President of Slater Paper Box Company of Fall River, later sold to APL Corporation of New York. Charlie was known for his kindness and caring spirit, his lifetime commitment to his community and his love of golf. He was a role model and mentor to many. His wisdom, wise counsel, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him. Charlie is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Joseph Paresky of Boston; his sister Connie Rabinovitz of Brookline; and nephews William Swinburne, Sam Ross, Joe Rabinovitz, Jeremy Rabinovitz, and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Esther and her husband Curt Swinburne of New York, nephew John Swinburne of New York, and brother-in-law Martin Rabinovitz of Brookline. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 11 am at the Temple Beth El Cemetery, 4620 North Main Street, Fall. River. Arrangements entrusted to Hathaway Funeral Home.
