Cathy Jane Sanson

Cathy Jane Sanson, 72, passed away on January 18, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John E. Sanson.

Cathy was born in Spokane, WA and was the daughter of the late Raymond Martichuski and Betty Jane (Benema) Martichuski. She grew up in California before settling in Massachusetts and raising her family,

Cathy was employed as a saleswoman with Avon for many years until her retirement. She also worked for Fashion Bug and later was employed locally with Cumberland Farms stores. Cathy enjoyed knitting and crochet and traveling when she could. After the passing of her late husband, Cathy found much love and companionship in her devoted partner Paul Scott, and together with their families, they shared many wonderful memories. Cathy will be remembered by those who knew her best as a devoted mother and grandmother, who cherished the time she spent with her family.

Cathy is survived by her children, Brenda Panaggio and her husband Peter of Dartmouth and Mary Jane Sanson-Mello and her husband Michael of Swansea; brother, Dennis Chambers and his wife Hazel of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren, David Ferguson, Rebecca Ferguson, Andrew and Joshua Panaggio, Sara Jane Jesus, and Lacey and Drake Mello; great grandchildren, Aliyah, Adalynn and Lucy and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Joanne Ferguson and sister of the late Walter Chambers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 4-8pm in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Prayers and Words of Remembrance will begin at 7:30pm.

Per Cathy’s wishes, cremation will follow and a private burial will be held at a later date.
