It is with deep and abiding sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Bonnie Jean Schoonmaker, who passed away on April 24th at the age of 69 from injuries suffered in a traffic accident.
Bonnie was born in Winchester, Massachusetts and lived in Woburn for most of her life, graduating from Woburn High School and attending Middlesex Community College. She was quite proud to work at the Woburn Five Cents Savings Bank where she began as a teller and eventually rose to the office of Assistant Controller. She later moved with her husband and two young children to Attleboro, Massachusetts where she raised her family and then worked at a series of jobs, ending with a position she much enjoyed at Richards Memorial Library in North Attleborough. As a lifelong avid reader, working in the library pleased her.
Bonnie was a dedicated mother to her children and continued to develop her passion for choral music and gardening throughout her life. She was always very proud of her yard and the beautiful flowers that grew there. There was always something blooming from early spring to late fall. She also loved the birds in her backyard and enjoyed identifying them by their songs.
Bonnie was devoted to the First Baptist Church in Attleboro and sang in the choir there for almost thirty years. She is survived by her children, Christopher and Katelyn, her sisters, Janice Caruso and Laurie Melanson, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews upon whom she doted.
A public memorial service will be held at 2 pm on May 21st at the First Baptist Church, 118 South Main St., Attleboro, MA. A private internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church in Attleboro, The Massachusetts Audubon Society, or Richards Memorial Library.
Bonnie was a kind, generous, and loving person. We believe her reward in heaven will be as great as the size of her heart.
