Beatrice (Silvia) Correa, age 98, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Born in Fall River she was the daughter of the late Stephen L. and Mary (Coute) Silvia and beloved wife of the late John B. Correa. Beatrice was a life long resident of Somerset where she was secretary of the Guidance Office at Somerset High School from 1960-1976. After obtaining her degree from Providence College in 1976, she taught Special Needs at Somerset High School until her retirement in 1986. Beatrice was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, where she was a teacher of Christian Doctrine, and a member of the Woman’s Guild. She was also a member of Somerset Teachers Association, Providence College Alumni Association and the local and National Teachers Association. After retiring, Beatrice became and active volunteer for Hospice Outreach of Greater Fall River as a patient care and a bereavement volunteer, a Hope House volunteer, driver for American Cancer Society, and Co Director for Nancies Place run by the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation.
She is survived by her children: Jo Anne Meehan of Somerset, Stephen J. Correa (wife Lynn) of Brownsville, TN, Mariel “Mary” Houle (husband Andrew) of Dartmouth, sister: Patricia Medeiros, of Somerset, grandsons: John Meehan, Steve Meehan, Aaron Correa, Blace Houle, and Blace Correa, great grandsons: Jake, Owen, and Liam, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother in law of the late Bill Meehan.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday June 16, 2022, 10AM, at St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
