Arthur Oldrid

Arthur Oldrid passed away on April 12, 2022 at the age of 101. He was the husband of the late Helen E. (O’Donnell) Oldrid.

Arthur was born in Fall River and was the son of the late Fred Oldrid and Mabel (Aspden) Oldrid.

Arthur was a 1940 graduate of BMC Durfee High School and worked at the former Newport Torpedo Station during World War II. He was employed with Webb Crosson Oil for 38 years and BayCoast Bank for 30 years. Arthur was also a longtime board member of the Fall River Council on Aging, a member of the Union United Methodist Church for over 50 years and had been active in volunteering in his community his entire life. Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family, working around the house and tending to his garden. A man whose faith and family came above all else, he will be fondly remembered as a kind and generous man who took the time to enjoy the simple things that life had to offer.

Arthur is survived by his daughter, Kathy J. Oldrid  and her husband James Griffin of ME; grandchildren, Edward Dzialo and his husband Jason Martin of IL, Jennifer Saunders and her husband Timothy, Stephanie Vieira and her husband Joey and Gregory Dzialo all of Fall River; great grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Abigail, Owen, Teagan, Harrison, Scarlett, Henry, Arthur and June and many nieces and nephews.

Arthur was preceded in death by his twelve siblings and was the father of the late Donna Lee (Oldrid) Dzialo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 9-10am, in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Prayers and words of remembrance will begin at 10am in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately following services.
