Arlene Bouvier

July 13, 2021

Final wishes of Arlene Bouvier have been carried out.

Her husband Michael (Mike) and their daughter Caroline (Carrie) and Carrie’s family -husband Thomas Tucker and their children, Thomas, Michael, and Anne - and their son, Michael and his family - wife Carolyn, and their children, Hannah, William, and Jillian were her life. She had satisfaction in the goodness of her family and great pride in their accomplishments.

The middle child of George Ostapow and Emily Betke Ostapow, she was born in Manhattan and raised in Fall River with siblings Barbara and George. Her paternal grandparents, Kirylo and Varvara Narzarkiewicz Ostapow, were founding members of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Fall River, Massachusetts. Her maternal grandmother was Wilhelmena Luders Betke.

Arlene was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and of the influence it had on her character. She liked to recall Ukrainian traditions and values, and to sing Ukrainian songs from her childhood.

Mike and Arlene were junior high school sweethearts and married in 1961. Their early years together were with the US Navy in Atlantic Beach, Florida, during the Cuban crisis. They returned home to live a life of contentment on Church Street in Fairhaven, with their children and Archie their dog. It remains their home today.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family. Arlene was like a second mother to me while I was a teen. The one thing that I always remember is how much she loved her family. She always wanted the best for them and would do anything for them. I will always remember her fondly. ❤️❤️

We were extremely sad to hear of this news. As Mike and Arlenes neighbors, it is a lesser place to live now. Along with our family and our neighbors may you rest in the peace and loving comfort of your God.
