Antonia M. DeAndrade, 88, of Taunton passed away at home on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Antonio Vieira DeAndrade and Julia (Barros) DeAndrade.
Antonia was born in Fogo, Cape Verde. She grew up family orientated in her native country where she was a landowner. After migrating to America she was baptized as a Seventh Day Adventist. Mrs. DeAndrade was the Matriarch of the family who was deeply loved by many. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with family. She was considered a “Strong Woman” with a kind heart.
She is survived by one son: Joao Lopes of Brockton, MA; two daughters: Maria Gomes Cardoso and her husband Joao of Taunton, MA and Julia Depina Vicente of Taunton MA; one brother: Tito Livio Gomes of Cape Verde; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three nieces whom she raised: Lucia Dias, Amelia Gomes and Augusta Gomes; along with several nephews and nieces that cherished her.
Calling Hours for Mrs. DeAndrade will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, Taunton. A church service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Taunton Cape Verdean Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 51 Railroad Ave, Taunton, followed by a burial in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, East Britannia Street, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. (Facial coverings are required if not vaccinated).
