Andrew Santos

Andrew “Andy” Santos, 86, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of sixty-one years to Madeleine E. (St.Laurent) Santos. Andrew was born in Fall River the son of the late Gil and Theresa (Cunha) Santos. He began working for the Sheetmetal Worker’s Union, Local #501 in New Bedford and then for the Local #17 in Boston for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Santos was a communicant of Saint Louis De France Church in Swansea. He was the Past President of the Somerset Progressive Club a former member of the Somerset Rod & Gun Club, Fall River Lodge of Elks#118, Trustee Board Member at the Somerset Library and was a member of the  Somerset Historical Society and the Somerset Historical Commission. Andy was active at one time with the PACL, Somerset Youth Hockey, Somerset Friends of Music and also volunteered at Roger Williams Park Zoo. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors besides his wife are his daughters: Marcella Goddu and her husband Michael of Somerset; Jill Desmarais and her husband Paul of Berkley;  Betty Ann Cole of Oregon; Beverly Jones of Fall River and Belinda Kindy of Lakeville; eight grandchildren: Sara, Megan, Kevin, Adrianna, Tanya, Katy, Kristen and Jessica; three great grandchildren; a sister: Veronica Rego of Swansea; a nephew: Ryan Rego of Somerset; along with many other nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Andrew A Santos and brother of the late Louis Santos. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 9am to 10am with a Mass of Christian burial following at 10am in Saint Louis de France Church, 56 Buffington Street, Swansea. Burial to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
