Obituary
Alvaro C. Affonso, Jr., 85, formerly of Somerset passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 5, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Alvaro C. And Donalda (Dupris) Affonso, he was a longtime resident of Somerset and had been a resident of Our Lady’s Haven for the past five years. Alvaro served in the Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War and later worked for Olin Chemical. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, horse races and was a sports enthusiast. He also enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh.
He is survived by his children, Karyn Souza and her husband William of Westport, Karrie Hunter and her husband John of NH, Darlene Rosado of Swansea and Allan Affonso and his wife Christine of Fall River; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Affonso and his wife Joan of GA, Theresa Levell of Haverhill, Patricia Thornton and her husband Walter of Somerset and Carol Frazier of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Affonso was the brother of the late Robert, Billy and William II.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10AM at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne. Arrangements are by the Hathaway Community Home, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset. For memorial register please visit, www.hathawayfunerals.com.
