Obituary

William "Billy" E. Spearin Jr. lost his battle with cancer on June 21, 2018, suddenly at the age of 54.

William was born in Taunton, on December 27, 1963. He was the son of Jeanne Spearin-Taylor of Taunton and the late William E. Spearin, Sr. of South Carolina, and step-son to the late Richard Taylor of Taunton. He was the beloved brother to the late Michelle (Spearin) Hebert.

Besides his mother, Jeanne, he is survived by a sister Darla Jeanne Hartung of Taunton and her husband Karl, as well as, his much loved partner Karen Ditson Lambert of Somerset. Also survived by 6 nieces and nephews, Danielle (Hartung) Keefe of Marshfield, Nicholas Hartung, Devan (Hartung) Ranalli, Amanda Hebert, Jared Hebert, and Joshua Hebert, all of Taunton; and great nieces, Braelyn Keefe and Rylie Hartung, and twin great nephews, Parker and Mason Ranalli. William also leaves behind his adored cat, Scarlet Begonia.

He was a 1981 graduate of Taunton High School. He moved to South Carolina shortly thereafter to work with his father at their family business. In 2005, he moved back to Taunton after his father passed. He worked 10 years for City of Taunton, Park and Recreation, Cemeteries and Public Grounds, until he resigned four years ago due to his failing health. The work he did while employed with Park and Recreation was his greatest joy and gave him tremendous pride especially the work he did on the Taunton Green during the Christmas season. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, watching the Patriots, and listening to the Grateful Dead.

Visitation will be held at Crapo- Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton, MA 02780, on Tuesday, June 26,2018, from 4:00 -6:00 pm, private interment at convenience of family.

In Lieu of flowers, perennial plants may be dropped off at 135 Duffy Drive for a garden in memory of Billy.
