William Alexander Morel, 80, of Fairhaven, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Home, with his loving wife of 61 years by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Yvonne (Tetrault) Morel.
Born in Acushnet, he was the son of the late Arthur and Glenna (Metcalf) Morel. William, known to his family and friends as Bill, worked at Revere Copper and Brass for 30 years. After his retirement in 1999, he worked as the Shellfish Warden, in Fairhaven.
Bill was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served four years in the Navy. He enjoyed being with his family, as well as, painting, sailing, and playing golf.
He is also survived by a son, Michael and his wife Catherine; his daughter, Kimberly Chouinard and her husband Mark. Bill lost his youngest son, Mark Morel to cancer in 2015. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Matthew Morel, Stephanie Chouinard and her fiancé Chris Fonseca, Chad Morel, Caitlin Chouinard, Megan O'Donnell and her husband Sean, Brad Morel and Nicholas Chouinard; two great grandchildren, Myles Lopes and Aaliyah Fonseca; a sister, Doris Hess; a sister in law, Sandy Morel and he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and George Morel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.
