Stanley Janczura

Stanley Janczura, age 91, died as he lived, peacefully and surrounded by family, on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

He was born in Fall River and lived as a resident of Assonet for over forty years. He is survived by Mary Catherine (Ryan) Janczura, his loving wife of fifty-three years. He was the son of the late Vincent and Mary Catherine (Szadovicz) Janczura. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School in 1945, and of North Carolina State University in 1953. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He helped many people as a Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for thirty years.

He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, in Assonet. "Stas", as he was known by some of his friends, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Polish-American War Veterans of Massachusetts and the Kosciuszko Club. Stanley was also an avid golfer and a fan of all sports. An outstanding chef, he was loved for his delicious and abundant holiday meals.

A beloved father, Stanley is survived by two sons, Stanley Joseph Janczura of Fall River, and Stephen John Janczura and his wife Robyn of Assonet; two daughters, Jennifer Sarah (Janczura) Van Alstine and her husband James of Palenville, NY, Mary Catherine Janczura of San Francisco, CA; a stepson, Daniel E. Bogan, Jr. of Mesa, Az; a stepdaughter, Kathleen (Bogan) Butler and her husband Brian of Weymouth; seven grandchildren: Sarah Burke, Emily Helene, Patrick Brian, Brendan William Butler, Jacob Stephen, Benjamin John and Kathryn Julia Janczura, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stanley was the brother of the late Joseph, Stephen, Eugene and John Janczura, Catherine Roach, Mary Babka and Aniela Landoch.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018, from 5PM-8PM, at the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson Street, Fall River.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at 9 AM, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 32 South Main Street, Assonet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow with Military Honors at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
