Rosemary Gomes, 70, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, October 19, 2018.
Rosemary was born at the Mount Hope Hospital, in North Dighton, and was the daughter of the late Joseph S. Gomes Jr. and Louise (Gracia) Gomes. She was named after her Godmother, Rose (Gracia) Fort and her late grandmother, "Nana" Mary Gracia.
Rosemary graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School and was first employed by E. Otis Dyer Sr. Surveyors, in Rehoboth, and was later employed by The City of Taunton in the City Hall building department. She was a member of First Baptist Church, in Dighton, Happy Hearts Senior Citizens Club Of Berkley, and The Friend's Of Berkley Council On Aging.
What brought Rosemary the most joy in life were her many pets, mostly dogs and a few cats as well, which she lavished her love, attention and great care upon. Her hobbies included home improvement and was self-taught in many things including carpentry, furniture upholstering and expanded upon auto mechanics which she had learned from her father.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Heywood and her husband James Heywood of Attleboro, Margaret Philbrook and her husband David Philbrook of Smithfield, RI and Joanne Ransley of Dighton; Aunt Rose (Gracia) Fort of TN, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large extended family.
She was the sister of the late Catherine F. Yelle.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 10:00am, at First Baptist Church, 438 Main Street, Dighton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Following the church service there will be a procession to the Dighton Community Church Cemetery for a graveside prayer ceremony.
