Rosanna Welch

Rosanna Welch, 96, of North Dighton, passed away after a brief illness on December 8, 2018, at St Luke's hospital, in New Bedford. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Joseph L. Welch, with whom she shared 74 years of marriage.

Rosanna was born in Fall River, and was the daughter of the late James and Rosanna (Barrette) Fisher, and was the third of eight children. She had resided in Dighton since 1961.

During World War II Rosanna was employed at Firestone, and later worked as a housekeeper at the Catholic Memorial Home for many years until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and was an avid Boston Celtics fan. Rosanna cherished the time she spent with her family, in particular, relaxing times with her sisters at Ocean Grove and Island Park.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her sisters, Joan Cabral and Shirley Whiting both of Fall River; children, Michael Welch of Fall River, Diana McCarthy of North Carolina, Kathleen Ward of Taunton, Rosanna Pelletier of North Dighton, William Welch and Lynn Marie Ross all of Dighton; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to acknowledge the kind and compassionate care provided to Rosanna by the staff of St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford.

Following private interment, all are welcome to attend a Memorial Remembrance Service to be held on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 10:30am, in the Dighton Community Church, 2036 Elm Street, Dighton.
