Ronald W. Bisaillon

December 30, 2019

WESTPORT, MA-The fast and furious life of Ronald W. Bisaillon came to an end on December 30, 2019. His 74 years on this earth began in Somerset where he graduated from Somerset High School, his yearbook quote stating: "He who does not love wine, women nor song remains a fool his whole life long." A fool he was not.
Drafted at the age of 21, Bazooka served in the United States Army and fought with valor in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle M-14 Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Ronnie held many jobs throughout his life, but most of his time was spent on his many boats fishing. While he fished all over the country, his favorite spot was out on the Westport River where he fished with his brother. He was known for his conch salad and for dropping off a lobster or two on a friends doorstep. He was a terrible poker player but he loved the game, especially with his friends on a Saturday afternoon at the AMVETS hall in Somerset.  His many interests such as politics, golf, fishing, cooking, and more afforded him the ability to have meaningful conversations with people from all walks of life.
Ronnie had many beautiful companions throughout the years, if only for a short while. He was happiest, however, alone, choosing to come and go as he pleased. He loved and lived his life unapologetically on his own terms, until his very last day.

He leaves behind three beautiful daughters who he loved from afar: Jessica Machado and her husband Jeffrey of Somerset, Jaime Cabral and her fiance Michael Furtado of Fall River and Katie Plourde and her husband Jason of Somerset. Six grandchildren will grow to hear stories of his revelry: Julia Travassos, Jack and Jeorgia Banville, Alexander Machado and Sloane and Foster Plourde.

His brother David is the last of the Bisaillon siblings, having lost Nancy, Brian, Joan and Diane before. They are all the children of Gordon and Edith Bisaillon of Somerset.  Ron leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as many life long friends who bore witness to his larger than life existence and surely have many stories of him to tell.
