Obituary

Roland Lortie, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was the loving husband of Margaret E. (Baptista) Lortie, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Roland was born in Taunton and was the son of the late Jeremiah and Emma (Cournoyer) Lortie.

Roland served his country honorably in the US Navy during WWII and worked as a calibration tech at Raytheon for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Taunton Elks and belonged to their bowling league. Roland could fix just about anything and was also a talented athlete. He enjoyed playing tennis, baseball and basketball, and was drafted by the Boston Braves in his younger years. He also enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing 4, and a good Manhattan. Most of all, Roland cherished the time he spent with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Brian Lortie and his wife Lisa of Exeter NH; Susan Hebert and her husband Gerald of Raynham, Yvonne Bennett and her husband James and Beth Lortie all of Taunton; grandchildren; Brendan and Matthew Lortie, Drew and Laura Martin, Zachary and Brynne Lortie, Justin and Kristie Hebert, and his #1 grandchild Jennifer Martin and her husband Steve; great grandchildren, Quincey, Mya, Jacoby, McKenna and Madison and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Bruce Lortie and brother of the late Arthur and Leo Lortie and Blanche Picard, Beatrice Soares, Lillian Silveira and Yvonne Rose.

His funeral will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018, at 11am, in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.

Calling Hours will be held prior to the funeral service, from 9-11am, in the funeral home.
