Obituary

Richard L. Rego, 76, passed away at home surrounded by his family, on July 13, 2019. He was the loving husband of Linda M. Rego, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Richard was born in New Bedford and was the son of John Rego and Emily (Avila).

Richard was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and served his country honorably in the US Army during Vietnam. He was employed as a comptroller for Newcorr Packaging for many years until his retirement. Richard was a die hard Red Sox fan who had a massive collection and wealth of knowledge of anything Ted Williams. He loved to sit on his porch and also enjoyed playing golf. Richard adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially trips to Cape Cod and Disney. He will be remembered as a head strong and and hard working man who never missed a day of work. People were naturally drawn to Richard and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, John Rego and Wendy Pacheco and her husband Michael all of Fairhaven; grandchildren, Hannah Pacheco, Colin Pacheco and Madison Dlouhy; several nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend and brother-in-law Steven King.

He was the brother of the late Brenda Vertente.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 10am, in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Cremation will follow.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 4-7pm, in the funeral home.
