Obituary

Raul M. Botelho, 80, of Somerset and formerly of Fall River, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Anne's Hospital, in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Maria Hortense (Arruda) Botelho.

Born in Santo Antonio, Ponta Delgada, Portugal, one of 13 children of the late Joao deMedeiros Botelho and Maria deLourdes (Moreira) Botelho, he migrated to Canada, in 1965, and settled in Fall River, 50 years ago. Raul had worked for over 34 years at Quaker Fabric until his retirement in 2003.

He enjoyed playing guitar, watching soccer, gardening and tending to his grapes which he used to make his own wine.

He is survived by a daughter, MaryLou Gardikis and her husband David of Somerset; a son, David Botelho of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Lauren, Nickolas and Sebastian; a sister, Maria Furtado of Canada and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday, from 5-8pm, in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset. His funeral will be from the funeral home Thursday, April 19, 2019, at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00am, in St. John of God Parish, Somerset. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
