Natalie D. (Sherman) Mendes, 88, of New Bedford, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Hathaway Manor, in New Bedford, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late John Mendes and the late Norman Days.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Elmer H. and Estella (Swift) Sherman, she lived in the New Bedford/Fairhaven area all of her life. She was a member of the North Baptist Church, in New Bedford.
Natalie had worked as a stitcher years ago at New Bedford Manufacturing prior to be coming a fulltime mom and devoted caregiver to her son John. She loved knitting, animals and going to thrift shops. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and their visiting with her in her apartment.
She is survived by a daughter, Priscilla G. Nutter and her husband Dennis of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Jeffrey G. Nutter and his wife Estefani of Japan and Amy B. Nutter and her companion John Balis; and four great grandchildren, Danika, Jonas, Kaitlyn and Hunter. Mrs. Mendes was the mother of the late John H. Mendes and infant daughter, Janice M. Days.
A graveside service will be held Monday, December 18, 201,7 at 1:00pm, in the River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
