Michael R. Pimental, 59, of Fairhaven, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, in Fall River, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in New Bedford, on June 24, 1960, son of Robert J. and Bernice A. (Phillips) Pimental, he was a lifelong Fairhaven resident and communicant of St. Mary's Church. Michael was a proud graduate of Fairhaven High School, Class of 1978, and attended Southeastern Massachusetts University. He worked at Com Gas/Electric for more than twenty years, and had recently retired from the New Bedford Public School system in the custodial department.
Michael is survived by his parents; his brother Robert M. Pimental and wife Heather of Fairhaven; and his beloved nieces Kenzi and Josie Pimental. He also leaves his dear friend, Georgia (Gigi) Howland, who provided friendship and much care throughout his life, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Michael was a member of the Greater New Bedford Softball Umpires Association and the Eastern MA High School Softball Umpires Association. In addition, he officiated local youth football and basketball. Michael was an avid sports fan, but especially enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins. He was also an active member of the Dipper AC.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 8, 2019, at 9AM, at St. Mary's Church, 444 Main St., Fairhaven.
Calling hours are omitted and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SouthCoast Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
