Obituary

Mary Estelle (Tavares) Frado, born on December 4, 1917, in Fall River, the first daughter of Maria and Manuel Tavares, Mary celebrated her 100th birthday on December 4, 2017, surrounded by the family she so cherished. On March 4, 2018 she passed away after a brief illness.

She was predeceased by Bill, her beloved husband of 74 years, to whom she was always "Stella". She was also predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, Manuel and Joseph Tavares. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Martin, by her children, Bill, Tom and Rosemary and their spouses Jane, Ling Ling and Rafael, as well as four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Before her retirement, Mary worked for many years as a Secretary at Bristol Community College. While raising her family she was a major support to her husband in his farm business and was an avid participant in adult education classes in painting, art, and arts and crafts. An accomplished cook and baker she kept her family well supplied with goodies and her raisin squares were the hit of school bake sales.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, South St., Somerset, at 11:00 am, on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Visiting hours to be held from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on that morning at Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset.
