Mary Jo DeSilva

Mary Jo DeSilva, 69, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 19, 2019. She shared 42 years of marriage with her loving husband, Eric DeSilva.

Mary Jo was raised in Hudson, WI and was the daughter of the late Carl R. Obermueller and Mildred (Wink) Obermueller.

Mary Jo worked with children as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the Dighton-Rehoboth school district and Taunton Early Intervention for many years. Some of her proudest professional accomplishments include D-R Teacher of the Year and receiving her Master's degree while working full time and raising her children. Mary Jo had a natural flare for fashion and her style was always impeccable. She enjoyed going to the beach, weekend joy rides with her inseparable group of close friends, dancing to live music, and watching the Red Sox. Family came first above all else to Mary Jo, and she particularly enjoyed the annual summer trips with her family and friends to Provincetown.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Matthew DeSilva of Dorchester, Katherine McCool and her husband Sean of Portsmouth, NH; Aaron DeSilva and his wife Michelle of Wake Forest, NC; Meghan Volpe of Townsend; and Erika Madden and her husband Mark of Taunton; brother, James Obermueller and sister Kathy Gardner and her husband Brian all of Hudson, WI; eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 9am-12pm, in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Followed by her memorial service beginning at 12pm in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jo's memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
