Malcolm A. Shurtleff, 64, of Fairhaven, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He was the longtime companion of Diana Finnerty.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Malcolm and Theresa (Messier) Shurtleff, he lived in Fairhaven most of his life. Malcolm had been a welder on the Fairhaven and New Bedford waterfront for many years.
He enjoyed NASCAR, working in his yard and around his house, spending time with his children and grandchildren, animals, and Friday night bonfires at his house.
He is survived by his companion, Diana; two daughters, Rebecca J. Dias and her husband Joe and Tessa A. Shea all of Fairhaven; three sons, Malcolm A. Shurtleff, Jr. and Joseph Shea both of Fairhaven and Marty J. Shurtleff and his companion Felicia Lopes of New Bedford; eight grandchildren, Devin, Kobey, Luke, McKayla, Max, Harper, Koral and Alijah; his former wife Jill (Wood) Rocci; three brothers, William, Benjamin and Vincent Shurtleff; a sister, Samantha Long; and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 6pm, in the VFW, on Middle Street, Fairhaven.
Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.
