Lynn Irene (Castonguay) Baker

October 27, 2019

Obituary

Lynn Irene (Castonguay) Baker, 64, of Fairhaven, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her devoted and loving family, on Sunday, October 27, 2019, on a day shy of her 65th birthday.

She was the daughter of Roland Castonguay of Acushnet and the late Barbara (Spooner) Castonguay. The beloved wife of 40 years to Douglas C. Baker, Lynn is also survived by her loving children, Jodie Hollinrake and her husband David, Laurie Bryant and her fiancée David Hutchins and Casey Baker; she was the cherished grandmother to, David Hollinrake, Cody and Chloe Bryant, Dylan Gordon, Haleigh Oldham, Taylor Hollinrake and Hannah DiRocco.

Lynn was the owner of the legendary Pop Casey's, in Acushnet, a place where you could go and have that wonderful homemade cooking, from her liver and onions to a cheeseburger and a coffee frappe. This small charming restaurant has been in the family for over 70 years and was opened by her grandfather, Isidore and father Roland in 1947.

Among the restaurant, Lynn loved the Wizard of Oz, one of her customers, Howie, often referred to her as "Mrs. Poppy". She also loved playing scrabble, crazy rummy, traveling and spending time around her pool with family and friends. Everyone would gather for large dinners at her home, not only for holidays, just because she had a passion for cooking and creating new dishes. Lynn always had a seat at her table and an open door to anyone in need. She was truly and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to have known her and even for those who have not. She will be sorely missed.

"There is no place like home", Judy Garland.

Lynn was also survived by her sisters, Diane Ashley and her husband Michael, Cheryl Hathaway and her husband Donald, Sandra Daher, Michelle Castonguay of Acushnet and Danielle Castonguay of Anchorage, Alaska; also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving Pop Casey's customers.
