Lucia C. (Gour) Marcille, 82, of Somerset, MA, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late Francis M. Marcille, to whom she had been married for 57 years, and the loving mother of the late Alicia Foley.
Lucia was born in Springfield, MA, and was the daughter of the late Russell and Frances (Garde) Gour.
A graduate of Fitchburg State College, she began her teaching career in New York, and after moving to Somerset, was a teacher at Holy Union Primary School, in Fall River.
An esteemed mentor and instructor, she guided countless area youth and adults on their path of Christian faith, while serving as the director of religious education for many years at St. Louis de France Church, Swansea, MA. Lucia was a Eucharistic Minister and the recipient of the Marian Medal, which she earned for her generous service to the parish community.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by her children, David Marcille and his wife, Susan, of Great Falls, VA; Elizabeth Hattamer and her husband, Steven, of Hollis, NH; John Marcille and his wife, Kathleen, of Rehoboth; Caroline Cleverly and her husband, George, of Coventry, RI; Catherine LePage and her husband, David, of Somerset, MA; and her son-in-law, Thomas Foley, of Somerset, MA. Lucia is survived by 16 grandchildren: Emma, Timothy, and Sean Marcille; Alyssa, Hannah, Erin, and Jack Hattamer; Caroline, Grace, and Elizabeth Foley; Joseph, Peter, and John Marcille; Mark Cleverly; and Margaret and Charles LePage.
She was the sister of David Gour and his wife, Carole, of East Longmeadow, MA, and the late Florence (Gour) and the late Robert McCarthy. She had many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours for Mrs. Marcille will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 4-7pm, in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 10am, in Saint Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Avenue, Somerset, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend directly to the church. Burial will be privately held at a later date in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
