Linda Mae Alves, 71 passed away at Roger Williams Hospital, on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Linda was born in Taunton, daughter of the late Edwin and Deminga (Lopes) Gonsalves.
Linda grew up in Taunton and attended Cohannet School. As a young girl she attended dancing school and always had a love for music. She was always adventurous and creative. She started as an entrepreneur at a young age picking flowers and selling them door to door. Her entrepreneurial spitrit carried in to her adult years, selling clothing at area flea markets and trade shows. One of her favorite things to participate in was the making of the centerpieces for the Feast of St. Anne, this was something Linda's family did together and was special to all of them. She was a jokester and loved to laugh and make people laugh. Linda was also very spiritual. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Sheldon Gonsalves, Walter Lawrence Alves, Deminga Elsie Alves, and Bernadette Marie Alves all of Providence, RI; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren (and one on the way); three God Children; a brother, Norman P. Gonsalves of Texas; two sisters, Antoinette Rezendes and Henrietta Fontes both of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews. She was formerly married to Wayne A. Alves.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 11:00am in the Baptist Church of All Nations, 61 Winthrop Street, Taunton.
