Obituary

Leroy A. Ryder, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 2, 2018. He was the loving husband of Madeleine (Theberge) Ryder, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.

Leroy was born in Taunton and was a son of the late Earl and Ethlyn (Coe) Ryder.

Leroy served his country honorably in the US Army and was employed as a machine operator at the former Fortifiber, in Attleboro, for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Attleboro Elks Lodge #1014 where he enjoyed helping the veterans, drinking beer, playing pitch and horseshoes. In his younger years, Leroy enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding. He also enjoyed taking several cruises with his wife Madeleine along with trips to Las Vegas, London and Ireland, and most recently Alaska. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, son Douglas Ryder and his wife Linda of Dighton, son Steve Ryder and his wife Joanie, and daughter Sharon Ryder all of Attleboro; step sons, Michael Tabor and his wife Jean, Marcel Tabor and his wife Lynn all of North Port, FL, and Richard Tabor of Sarasota, FL; sister Ethlyn Ferreira of Dighton; fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Earl Ryder, brother in law to the late William Ferreira, and step-father of the late Mark Tabor.

His funeral service with Words of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11am in the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Calling Hours will precede the service from 9-11am in the funeral home.

Burial will be privately held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Leroy's memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 57 Taunton Green, Taunton, MA 02780 or to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
