Obituary

Joyce LeClaire Simnett, 74, formerly of Norwood, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Simnett, former wife of William LeClaire and the partner of Lawrence Kiff

Joyce was born in Boston and was a daughter of the late Chester and Theresa (Quinn) Plasko.

Joyce taught 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade at Hyman Fine Elementary School for over 40 years. She was a member of the Attleboro Elk Lodge, Parents Without Partners the Attleboro, Historical Society and was a founding member of Alpha Delta Kappa. In her leisure time, Joyce enjoyed reading, cross stitch and ceramics. Spending time with her loving family was most important to Joyce and camping and the many summers spent in Old Orchard Beach, ME and Cape Cod brought her great joy in life.

She is survived by her daughter Theresa L. Lewis and her husband Chester of North Attleboro; step-son, James Simnett and his wife Lyn of Attleboro; brother William Plasko and his wife Kathy of Norwood; grandchildren, Benjamin and Alexander Burbine, Valerie and Heather Tremblay and Kathryn and Brady Simnett, and several nieces and nephews

She was the step-mother of the late Jenny Simnett.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 17, 2019 beginning at 5pm in the Attleboro Elks Lodge #1014, 887 South Main St., Attleboro. A service with words of remembrance will begin at 6pm in the Lodge, with collation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline, Ave., Boston, MA 02215.

Arrangements entrusted to Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, Attleboro.
