Joseph “Butchie” Bourgeois

Joseph "Butchie" Bourgeois, 66, of Ocala FL, formerly of Westport, passed away on August, 3, 2019. He was the fiancé of 12 years to Susan Martins, and the son of the late Joseph and Rita (McGillick) Bourgeois.

Butchie worked for various auto shops as an auto body tech. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, as well as riding motorcycles and fishing. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group. Butchie was an incredible mentor, and went out of his way to lend a hand wherever he could. His most favorite thing was spending time with his granddaughter Makenna. Butchie spent most of his life in Westport before moving to Ocala, Florida ten years ago.

Besides his fiance Susan, Butchie leaves behind his children; Jonathan Bourgeois of Fall River, Nicole Bourgeois and her companion Marcio Avila of Rehoboth, a granddaughter; Makenna Avila, siblings; Steven Bourgeois of Fall River, Patricia Bourgeois of Westport, Peggy Reis of Fall River, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was known as "the greatest Uncle ever". Butchie was like a grandfather to Jonathan Martins. He was the former husband to Kathleen (Mooney) Bourgeois.

Calling Hours for Butchie will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019, 5pm to 8pm, in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Other arrangements held privately.
