Obituary

John E. Munise, III, 63, a thirty-six year Patrolman with the City of Taunton Police Department passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of thirty-nine years to Linda A. (Souza) Munise.

John was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Lt. TPD John E. "Jack" Munise Jr., and Marion (Harrigan) Munise. He was a graduate of Coyle Cassidy High School. Mr. Munise then earned his associates and bachelor's degree's from Northeastern University and Masters degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College.

Patrolman Munise was a community police officer in the City of Taunton and an intricate part of the Opioid Task Force and the Blue Knights. He was a third generation police officer for the City of Taunton. He was also involved with Cops for Christ International, the Massachusetts Police Association, the God Squad Police Ministry. John was also the past president of the Taunton Police Patrolman's Association. Mr. Munise was an active member at the Christ Community Church, in East Taunton and as a deacon chair at the New Testament Baptist Church, in Norton. John cherished his family and the community he served.

Survivors besides his wife are two daughters: Kylie Munise of Taunton; Shannon DelPapa and her husband Mark of Berkley; a son: John E. "Jack" Munise, IV of Taunton; two grandchildren: Liam and Norah DelPapa; a sister: Nancy Sylvester and her husband Scott of Taunton.

John's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 2-6pm, in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton.

His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018, at 10am, in the Christ Community Church, 41 Stevens St, East Taunton. Relatives and friends are asked to report directly to the church, burial to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
