Obituary

Jeanne Norma LeDuc, 88, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, after a long illness.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Alexander J. and Alma (Lauzier) Messier, Jeanne was predeceased by her loving husband and soul mate Leo E. LeDuc, as well as, three sisters, Aline, Vivian, and Claire, and three brothers, Normand, Roland, and Arthur.

Burdened with health issues throughout her life, Jeanne will always be remembered for her devotion and love to her husband and four children. They were her life and reason for living. Despite her problems, Jeanne managed to raise her children to be independent, loving, and compassionate, and instilled in them the love of God. She cared deeply for those in need and worked for a time caring for the sick and elderly at Sacred Heart's Nursing Home.

One of Jeanne's final acts of unconditional love occurred several years ago when she willingly and unselfishly left her home and all belongings and moved into a nursing facility to support her husband as his health began failing. May she find comfort and peace in the hands of God.

Survivors include her children, Leo E. Leduc, Jr. and his wife Marianne (Lacoste) of Tewksbury, Robert A. LeDuc and his fiancee Carol E. Girard of New Bedford, Jacqueline N. Goodrich of New Bedford, and Danielle L. Doyle and her husband James of Bridgewater. Jeanne was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Eric, Joseph, Marc, Thomas, Isabella, Nicole, and Matthew, as well as, five great grand-children, Lazaro, Christian, Lauren, Blythe, and Catherine, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her loving in-laws, Lucille LeDuc of New Bedford, Normand LeDuc and his wife Cecile of Brockton, Jeannette Poyant of Madison, New Hampshire, and Rev. Roger LeDuc of Oakhurst, California.

A private family showing was held at the Donaghy Hathaway Funeral Home in New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph / St. Theresa Church. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.

The family wishes to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the palliative care team at Saint Luke's Hospital, in New Bedford, for their incredible professionalism and support in caring for mom during her final days.
