James R. Dissmore, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Marjorie (Stiles) Dissmore.
James was born in Whitehall, Wisconsin and was a son of the late Reuben E. Dissmore and Minnie (Johnson).
James served his country honorably in the US Air Force. He later received his diploma in biblical education from Barrington Bible College, teaching many bible classes over the years. He was employed as an industrial electrician, most recently at Quebecor Printing, Providence. James was a longtime member and deacon at the First Baptist Church, in Raynham, and also a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church. James enjoyed volunteering for many local organizations and sang baritone with "The Singspirations" quintet that traveled to churches, nursing homes and the state prison. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed tinkering with CB Radios, electronics and also fixed his own cars. James took pleasure in his daily walks and socializing with his neighbors. He had a very keen sense of humor that will be missed by all.
He is survived by his sons, Nathan J. Dissmore of Somerset and Philip J. Dissmore of Canton; daughter, Nancy Smith and her husband Paul of Stoughton; brother Loyd Dissmore of WI; grandchildren, Christina Hobbs and her husband Nicholas of ME, Bethany Puleo and her husband Anthony of Leominster, Jeremy and Stephen Smith of Stoughton, Ariana Briody of Taunton and Brent Dissmore of VA; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his other siblings.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 11am, in the First Baptist Church, 494 Church St., Raynham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend directly to the church.
Burial will follow in the Dighton Unitarian Church Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, December 19th, 2018, from 4-8pm, in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton.
