Grace Howard Fitzgerald, born October 29, 1926, passed away August 5, 2018, to be with the Lord and the love of her life and dear husband, George E. Fitzgerald of Somerset, MA. Grace was born in Fall River, the daughter of Walter Howard and Annie Langton Howard.
Grace was formerly a member of St. Mark's Church, in Fall River, and then Church of Our Saviour, in Somerset, since 1960. She was devoted to her church and her church friends. Her past accomplishments included Worthy Advisor of Rainbow for Girls and Past Grand Worthy Advisor of Massachusetts Rainbow. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Weetamoe Chapter.
Grace and her husband George were classmates and graduated from Durfee High School, Class of 1944. She served on the reunion committee well into her 80's. She was also a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and had been employed at both Trina and Paroma for more than 20 years.
Grace enjoyed seeing the world and she and George traveled the world by boat, plane, train and car, from Thailand to Mexico to Europe and China. She also greatly enjoyed walking (all over Somerset), swimming and her weekly aerobics class. Grace was an avid reader who drove the librarians in Somerset crazy.
Our beloved Grace is survived by her two sons: Paul and his wife Patricia of Brookfield, CT, their three sons, Mark, Sean and Colin; Gordon and his wife Jeanne of Newbury Park, CA, their three children, Kristen Van Fleet, Justin and Brandon Fitzgerald along with his wife Sarah.
Grace has been blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Caden and Taylor Van Fleet, Kole, Mason and Luke Galaz and Wyatt and Hannah Fitzgerald.
Among her other survivors are many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life and Requiem Eucharist will take place at the Church of Our Saviour, 2112 County Street, Somerset, MA 02726, on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at Nathan Slade Cemetery, Prospect St., Somerset.
Other arrangements held privately with the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffington Street, Somerset, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of Our Saviour Food Pantry.
