Estelle T. Roach, 91, passed away on January 27, 2018, at the Catholic Memorial Home, in Fall River.
She was the daughter of the late John J. Roach and Rhea (Castonguay) Roach. She is the sister of Sister Annette Roach O.P. of Christ the King Parish, in Mashpee, Massachusetts, and also the sister of the late John J. Roach, Jr., Mary Walsh, Rhea Reilly, Blanche Roach, and Claire Bishop.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Frances Willcox of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; Susan and Charles Warburton and John J. Roach III of Warwick, Rhode Island; James J. Walsh Jr. of Westport; Leslie and Fran Desmarais of Fall River; Barbara and Joseph Sandusky of Inglewood , California; David and Susan Bishop of Dartmouth; Brian and Lisa Bishop of Assonet; and Claire and Richard Greene of Concord, Massachusetts.
She was a a graduate of St. Joseph Grammar School, in 1939, and Dominican Academy, in 1943. She received her undergraduate degree from UMASS Dartmouth and her master's degree from Salve Regina University. She continued taking educational courses throughout her life and enjoyed traveling, especially to London. She organized class of 1943 reunions and also many family reunions. For several years she worked as an administrative secretary/legal assistant in the fields of insurance, education, and law. As a licensed Massachusetts social worker and certified Massachusetts alcoholism counselor, she was employed at the Center for Alcohol Problems, Steppingstone, Edgehill, in Newport, and retired from the SSTAR Outpatient Department.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Immaculate Conception Parish, and St. Joseph Parish; and for several years she worked in parish ministry for the Cathedral.
She was a member of Voice of the Faithful, Call to Action, the Greater Fall River Peace and Justice Committee, the Interfaith Council of Greater Fall River, Pax Christi, the School of the American Watch and the Shepherd Center of Fall River.
A private burial service was held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, in Fall River.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Hathaway Home for Home, Fall River.
