Emery “Red” Vaughn

September 28, 2018

Obituary

Emery "Red" Vaughn passed away peacefully in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 28, 2018, at the age of 83.

Emery is survived by his wife Beverly (Ryan) of Bourne, Massachusetts; daughter Jennifer Vaughn of Sandwich, Massachusetts, son Jeffrey Vaughn of Port Orange, Florida as well as his grandchildren Zach, Josh, Brian and Amy Vaughn. He is preceded in death by his daughter Susan.

Emery was born on July 3, 1935 in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Charlena Emery and Roger Vaughn. Emery graduated from Somerset High School in 1953. Upon graduation he worked as a cabinet maker and then joined the United States Army.

Emery and Beverly were married in 1959 and eventually settled in Swansea, Massachusetts where they raised their children and resided until 1998. Emery worked in the construction industry as an estimator and genuinely enjoyed his time working with the team at Marshall Construction, in Rumford, RI.

"Red & Bev" retired to Cape Cod in 1998 where he enjoyed biking and fishing along the Cape Cod canal most every morning and caring for Zach and Josh during the days of summer. The cold winter months were spent in Naples, Florida and visiting Jeff, Nancy, Brian and Amy in Port Orange.

Emery was an avid football fan who officiated high school and Pop Warner football in the 1970's. Sailing, fishing and bicycling were among his favorite pastimes. Traveling with dear friends in the Caribbean and throughout New England produced many laughs and fond memories.
