Edward J. Cabral, 82, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, in the Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of his beloved Claire M (Levesque) Cabral for 60 years.
Born in Raynham, a son of the late John Cabral and the late Mary G.(Demoura) Cabral, he lived in Fall River at various times during his life, including the last 25 years, after moving from Somerset.
He worked many years as a mail clerk for the Aetna Insurance Company office, in Fall River. After his retirement from there, he then worked for the Tremblay Bus Co., working until the age of 79. He was also an owner of two businesses.
Mr. Cabral was a Marine Corps veteran assigned to the USS Antietam and the USS Iowa for 4 years, traveling all over the world. He was particularly proud of his Expert Rifleman designation. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, in Somerset. He was also a longtime member of the Somerset Historical Society. He is also remembered as an avid reader, especially of WWII history. He was a regular league bowler at the Holiday Lanes, in Somerset, for many years, and he is remembered as an avid pool player.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving daughter, Karen A. Dupont and her husband Wayne; a brother, Charles Cabral; a sister, Irene Joaquin; his brother-in-law Robert E. Levesque whom he considered to be his best friend; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Eugene Cabral, and a sister, Helen Botelho.
