Obituary

Carroll A. (Harding) McCarthy, 76, of Dartmouth, MA, passed away in the Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River on May 24, 2019. She was a daughter of the late Elton Harding and the late Florence (Richardson) Harding. She was a 1959 graduate of Dartmouth High School. She went on to work in clerical and nurse's aide positions in nursings homes and elder care facilities in the region.

Carroll was a loving, generous and talented woman. She showed her love in many ways. She loved her family and had many friends that loved and cared about her over the years. She was avid about crochet. She made many hats and other items for veterans, and the homeless through various shelters and organizations. She also made beautiful doilies. She taught herself to do these things and was always happier to give than to receive. She will be loved and missed by all.

She is survived by two daughters, Karelle Jean Downen of Dartmouth, and Erin E. McCabe of New Bedford; two brothers, Robert Harding of N. Dartmouth and Elton Harding, Jr. of Taunton; three grandchildren, William Ferrullo, Sarah Ferrullo and Gabe Keys; three great grandchildren, Ariana Ferrullo, Annabella Ferrullo and William Ferrullo; also nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earle Harding and Fred Harding; and a grandson, Paul Ferrullo.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 2PM in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Other arrangements held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association www.lung.org.
