Barry W. Boucher

Barry W. Boucher, 72, of Fairhaven, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital, in New Bedford. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Morris) Boucher to whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph Boucher and Estelle (D'Oliveira) Rocha and her late husband Joseph, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven. Barry was a member of the Christian Fellowship Center, in New Bedford.

A commercial fisherman for over 30 years, Barry was the Captain and co-owner of the FV Shanty Girl, until 1984. He later worked for the New Bedford Co-Op, the Whaling Museum, and the Town of Fairhaven DPW until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Barry W. Boucher, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Pawtucket, RI and Matthew R. Boucher of Fairhaven; a daughter, JoAnn Tavares and her fiancé Robert J. Pombo of Fairhaven; two sisters, Marlene Tomlinson of Fairhaven and Florence "Penny" Medeiros and her husband Arthur of New Bedford; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Barry was the brother of the late Roger, Kenneth, Albert and Dennis Boucher and Sandra Record.

In accordance with his wishes he was cremated and a Celebration of Barry's Life will be held Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 2:00pm, in the Christian Fellowship Center, 822 Church St., New Bedford. The family will be receiving visitors from 1:00pm until the time of the service.

Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barry's name to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 72 East Concord St., Rm 3C, Boston, MA 02118.
