Barbara Phyllis (Southworth) Worthen, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the age of 89. She was the widow of the late Robert Worthen.
Born in Fall River, Barbara was the daughter of Milton and Florence(Broadhurst)Southworth. Barbara was a devoted mother who spent most of her time at home raising her children. She enjoyed camping and being involved with the Girl Scouts and Rainbow Girls. She worked in retail in her early adult life and co-owned a sewing shop, Fab-U-Sew, in Somerset, in which she gave sewing lessons. Barbara had an affection for animals and cherished time she spent with her family.
Survivors are: three daughters, Janet Booker of Swansea, Judith Worthen of Little Compton and Joyce Kearns of Fall River; nine grandchildren: Billy, Sonya, Ian, Stacy, Luther, Bobby, Rafe, Jessica and Nathan; and four great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Jay Worthen of North Tewksbury and sister of the late William Southworth of Plymouth.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Nathan Slade Cemetery, on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at 10:30 AM.
Memorial donations in Barbara's name can be made to Swansea Animal Shelter, 68 Stevens Road, Swansea.
