Barbara A. Parent, 87, formerly of Attleboro, passed away at home, surrounded by her family on Monday, September 3, 2018. She was loving wife of George D. Parent, Sr., with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
Barbara was born in Pawtucket, RI and was a daughter of the late Arthur J. Gadouas and Jennie M. (Patterson) Gadouas.
Barbara was the co-founder of Parent Radiator with her husband George, which they operated together for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 302, of which she served 20 years as president. She volunteered with Rehoboth Council on Aging, coordinating Meals on Wheels. She was also proud to devote her time to the Best is Yet to Come Club and the Disabled American Veterans at Brockton Hospital. Barbara also volunteered on the Rehoboth Board of Elections for many years. She enjoyed being on the ocean, in particular, camping on Cape Cod with her husband during their retirement. Most of all, Barbara cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her sons, George, Mel and Kenneth Parent; daughters Susan O'Brien, Joanne Richmond and Melissa Fontaine; brother, Donald Gadouas and his wife Mary; sister, Connie Kersting and her husband Keith; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was the sister in law of Raymond and Pauline Parent, Gloria Parent and her late husband Alfred, and the late Armand and Theresa Parent.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 4-8pm, in the Foley-Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be held privately.
