Thomas R. Nasser Jr., 86, of Robeson St. Fall River, died Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Catholic Memorial Home. He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Greenhalgh) Nasser. He was born on April 29 1919 in Fall River a son of the late Thomas R & Adele ( Faris) Nasser. He was a Supervisor for the former Nira Furniture Company for many years before retiring in 1981 after retiring from there he went to work for the Twin City Electric Company as a runner for 9 years. He was a lifelong Fall River resident, and a parishioner of Holy Name Church. He also attended Providence College. He was a Master Sergeant in the US Army during World War II, where he received a certificate of Commendation for especially meritorious service with the Western Pacific Base command. He was in charge of the military operations on the Island of Saipan from July 1945 - until Sept. 1945, he organized the statistical section of the department and was responsible for the efficient operations of all personnel entering and leaving the center. While in the Army he received a good conduct medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater campaign ribbon, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a member of the American Legion Post 314 where he was a commander in 1968. After his time in service he became the Veteran's Grave officer for the City of Fall River for many years. He was an avid grower of Roses along with his late wife, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and boating. He is survived by a son Thomas R Nasser III, PhD of Fort Mills South Carolina, a brother Francis Nasser of Fall River, 2 sisters Rita Wood of Fall River, Mary Place of North Dartmouth, and 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren., several nieces and nephews Funeral InformationHis funeral will be held Tuesday, Februaey 21, 2006 at 8:30am from the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA, with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St Fall River, burial with military honors in Oak Grove cemetery Fall River.
