View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Kenneth M. Alves, 71, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in the Life Care Center of Raynham following a period of failing health. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Manuel Texeira and Annie Alves, he was the husband of Beverly (Miranda) Alves, with whom he shared a forty-year marriage.
A 1957 graduate of Taunton High School, for more than forty-five years, Mr. Alves was employed as a calendar operator at the Esterline Corp. in Taunton. He spent his entire working career in the same building working for the former companies: GE; Haveg, Haskon, and Burke Industries before joining Esterline.
Ken was a communicant of St Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton. He loved all types of music, spending time with his family, and the privilege of being an ardent New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his wife, Ken is survived two daughters, Kelly Alves of Raynham and Kendra Alves of Taunton; he was the father of the late Kenneth Alves, Jr., and Bruce Alves. Ken was the grandfather of Kelly, Justin, Michael, Tigan, Kali, Kevin and DeAnte. He was also the brother of Bruce Texeira, Robert Texeira and Barbara Duarte, all of Taunton, Jack Cravalho, Caesar Oliver, Daniel Oliver, Sandra De Giroloma, Sunny Shakoor, all of Connecticut; and the late Gerald Avellar and Gene Texeira.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Andrew the Apostle Church, 31 Kilmer St., Taunton, at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, June 8, from 5:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
