David DeCosta, 86, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at home. He was the husband of the late Marjorie E. (Morris) DeCosta to whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Lombard) DeCosta, he settled in Dartmouth in 1960. Mr. DeCosta served in the Navy during the Korean War and later was a Foreman for Sullivan & Foster Construction for many years.
He enjoyed camping and was a Scout Master for his son’s troop and also raced stock cars years ago. David and his wife taught Ballroom Dancing for over 35 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen R. DeCosta of East Freetown and Kim P. Booker and her husband Bruce of New Bedford; a son, Kevin M. DeCosta and his wife Michelle of White Bear Lake, MN; a sister, Maureen Sylvia and her husband Leonard of Rochester; two brothers, Raymond DeCosta and his wife Patricia of East Freetown and Dennis DeCosta and his wife Claire of MN; two sisters in law, Lorraine and Jackie DeCosta; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. David was the brother of the late Richard and Robert DeCosta.
In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and private arrangements are by the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
