Grace Avery “Avery” Hathaway, 80, of Washington Post Drive, Wilton Ct. died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk Ct. She was born in Rochester, New York, on July 1, 1926, a daughter of the late Charles E. & Madeleine (Perkins) Hathaway. She had lived in Connecticut for 50 years after living in both New York, and New Jersey.

Ms. Hathaway completed an internship in counseling Psychology at the West Haven VA Hospital, after receiving a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. She went on to receive her Masters in Education M.ED. from Columbia University. She was an Admissions Director for the Waveny Care Center for over 10 years, and was also the Director of Volunteers there as well.

She was a Treasurer for the Soutbury (Ct.) Home & School Association. She was an avid animal lover, and very generous to the Humane Society. She was also a member of the Planned parenthood. She belonged to Book Clubs in Connecticut, enjoyed flying and had her pilot’s license, was an avid gardener, and a world traveler. She had a full, active life.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Wuest of Munroe, CT. , Bart Wuest of Walla Walla, Washington, and a daughter, Madeleine Wuest of Southbury, CT., she was also the grandmother of five. She was the mother of the late Andrew Wuest.

Funeral Information

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 3:00pm in the Palmer Street Cemetery , Palmer St., Somerset. Arrangements by the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA.
