Beatrice (Cabral) Amaral

SWANSEA – Beatrice (Cabral) Amaral, 88, of Swansea, died Saturday, September 27, 2008, at the Crawford Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Carreira) Cabral, she was the wife of the late Arthur Amaral, Sr.

Mrs. Amaral worked in the garment industry in Fall River for over forty years as a seamstress, retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of Saint John of God Church in Somerset, and enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.

She leaves two sons, Arthur Amaral, Jr., of Swansea and Joseph P. Amaral and his wife Marlene of Tiverton, RI; a sister, Lillian Furtado of Fall River; a brother, Leonard Cabral of Fall River; two grandchildren, Jolene Durand and Melissa Saporito; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Amanda, Jason, and Adrienne; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Pontes.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 8:00AM from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in Saint John of God Church, 996 Brayton Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 1, from 2:00-4:00 and from 6:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
