Vivian V. (Fairhurst) Allen, 93, of Assonet, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Center in Fall River she was the wife of the late John F. Allen. Born in Fall River, MA on March 19, 1913 the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Viola (Davis) Fairhurst. Mrs. Allen was a graduate of BMC Durfee High school class of 1930, she then worked as a secretary for United Merchants & Manufacturers until its closing. Also worked as a secretary for Fall River Electric Light Company, Adams House, and then Consolidated thread Mills for twelve years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the United Parish in Fall River, the secretary for the Mission society at the former North Church, and the co president of the ladies aid society at the former church, member of the Berkley and Freetown Senior Citizens Groups, Freetown Historical Society for over twenty five years, the Fall River garden Club, Massachusetts and Bristol County Farm Bureaus. Survivors are a daughter Joyce F. Gagne and her husband Albert of Assonet, MA John F. Allen and his wife Diane of Fall River, MA three grandchildren JoAnn Pereira and her husband Luis, David Gagne and his wife Lorrie, James Gagne and his wife Michelle, four great grandchildren Ashley Pereira, Matthew Gagne, Nicholas, Zachary Gagne and Kaitlyn Gagne and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Dean S. Allen. Funeral InformationHer funeral will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10am in the Hathaway Home for Funerals 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery Fall River. Calling Hours are Friday, May 12, 2006 from 4-7pm . Donations Information
