TAUNTON – John J. Ferreira, 79, died at the New England Medical Center in Boston, on Saturday, February 3, 2007. Born in Somerset, the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Ferreira) Ferreira, he was educated in the Somerset Public Schools. He was a resident of Taunton for many years.

Mr. Ferreira was employed as a mixer for Park Schlack Company in Somerset for more than forty years. He also was employed at Dyecrafts in Taunton, and for the past fifteen years he was employed as a bagger at Shaw’s on Winthrop St. in Taunton. He and his late wife Mary E. (Silvia) enjoyed dancing. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and a communicant of the Annunciation of the Lord Church.

Mr. Ferreira is survived by his daughter, Deborah Rioux and her husband Dennis of Taunton; and by his granddaughter, Danielle Rioux of Taunton; his siblings, Mary Lou Botelho of Somerset, Alice Medeiros of Fall River, Daniel Ferreira of Fall River, and James Cordiero of Somerset. He was also the brother of the late Hilda Stevens, Elise Ferreira, Joseph Ferreira and Charles Ferreira, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held from the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, on Wednesday, February 7, at 10:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Annunciation of the Lord Church, Taunton, at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in St Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00PM.
