Germaine Lapointe, 102, of Our Lady's Haven died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Oscar and the late Rose (Fontaine) Lapointe, she was a life long resident of the city before entering the Haven eleven and a half years ago. She was a former communicant of St. James Church where she was a member of the St. James Seniors.

Miss Lapointe was a graduate of New Bedford High School and worked as an office manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance for 42 years until her retirement in 1963. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her sister. She was a member of AARP and was a life member of the Metropolitan Veterans Association Field Group.

She is survived by two nieces, Therese G. Menard and her husband George of Dartmouth and Marthe Bolton of Peabody; and several great nieces and nephews. Miss LaPOINTE was the sister of the late Yvonne Methe and twins, Simone and Clementine Lapointe.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 8:30 AM from the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Our Lady's Haven Chapel, Fairhaven. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery #2, New Bedford. Calling hours are Friday, December 9, 2005 from 4-6 PM.
